The Federated European Genome-phenome Archive (FEGA) is a distributed network of repositories for sharing biomedical research data. The federation was formally established in 2022. The Portuguese ELIXIR node, the Portuguese distributed infrastructure for biological data – BioData.pt, was one of the first nodes to join the federation.
At the core of FEGA is the European Genome-phenome Archive (EGA), which is a global repository jointly operated by EMBL-EBI in the UK and CRG in Spain. Steering documents, guidelines and infrastructure are being developed in collaboration between involved parties.
